Carpe Diem – Tanka Shrine #2

We take our inspiration from the following tanka written by the Japanese poet, Takuboku Ishikawa.

of the beach on a small isle
in the Eastern sea
I, my face streaked with tears,
am playing with a crab

and mine:

at the base of the mountain
where once a famous author honeymooned
slowly, I climb
soon I reach a flat rock
and pause to reconsider
